![]() I hope that Epic Games are aware of this problem and find a solution to this. But if there is a noticeable FPS difference, then maybe you should find a new skin. If you have a particular skin combination that you main, then I would suggest benchmarking it against the default skin in a Creative map like I’ve done in this post.Īnd if there’s no noticeable FPS decrease, then you can continue using your skin. If you want to be extra safe, then use the default skin with no back bling and the default pickaxe. So the best thing you can do to protect your FPS is to only use basic skins, back bling, and pickaxes. Unfortunately, there are literally millions of different outfit combinations and it would take me forever to test everything.īut we know for sure that using certain skin combinations can dramatically lower your FPS. Now I don’t know if it’s the skins themselves, or if it’s the combination of back bling and pickaxe that is causing the change in FPS. I’ll admit, when I first saw the Tweet, I thought it was bait to get more impressions.īut it turns out that your skin choice in Fortnite really does matter more than for just aesthetic reasons or to create more space on your screen. The fact is that the skin you use in Fortnite can significantly affect your FPS and this discovery is still mindblowing to me. Why does using low settings have a greater impact on the FPS difference between skins than high settings? Conclusion This was surprising and made me even more confused. You can see that this time the average FPS, 1% low FPS, and 0.1% low FPS are almost the same. Here are the results when the tests were run using Epic settings: I knew that using higher settings would reduce my FPS, and I thought it would have a greater impact on the Calamity skin because of the animations. So I tested the default skin against the Calamity skin combination again. I was interested to find out what would happen to my FPS when using higher settings. ![]() But simple skins (like the default skin) can give you better FPS. So skins with a lot of visuals could lower your FPS because there are more animations to render. The theory is that the FPS loss with certain skins may have something to do with the way animations are rendered with Unreal Engine’s Chaos Physics System. These results honestly shocked me and I couldn’t believe them.īut I had the same results each time. Using the Calamity skin combination made my average FPS drop by more than 140 in comparison to the default skin.Īlso, the 1% low and 0.1% low FPS were significantly less. You can see that the default skin does get the highest average FPS.Īnd the Calamity skin combination had by far the lowest FPS. Stage 5 Calamity with Frozen Shroud back bling and Fusion Scythe pickaxe – this is a skin with animation effects and a bulky cape and a pickaxe with animations as another test for the lower FPS theory.Ice King with Fusion Orb back bling and Guiding Glow pickaxe – this is a fairly big and detailed skin with an animated back bling and pickaxe to test the lower FPS theory.Snorkel Ops with the Deep Dive back bling and Tide Axes pickaxe – this is my main skin combination and I wanted to find out if using it was making my FPS lower. The default skin with no back bling and the default pickaxe – this is a barebones combination that would apparently give me the best FPS.The following skins were used for the tests: Each test was recorded 3 times to increase the reliability of the data. ![]() I used FRAPS for taking the benchmarks so I could see the average FPS, 1% low FPS, and 0.1% low FPS. So I did some tests in an empty Creative map using low settings and unlimited FPS. If this is true, then it would mean that skins do grant a competitive advantage because we know higher FPS makes you better at Fortnite. ![]() A popular FPS booster said on Twitter that the default skin has the best edit delay and FPS.Īnd that certain skins and back bling could lower your FPS.

This recent habit has become common due to the popularity of WeChat. Instead of giving the usual mooncakes, Chinese youth tend to send lucky money to family and friends. Couples enjoyed spending time together while singles paid homage to ‘the old man in the moon’, seen as the god who unites people in marriage, and prayed for his help to find true love and marriage. In ancient times, the Mid-Autumn festival was another Chinese ‘Valentine’s Day’ besides the annual ‘lovers’ day’ which usually falls in August. Travelling to places that are ‘close’ to the moon, like mountains and lakesides are popular destinations as well as roof tops which is particularly popular with young people in bigger cities like Shanghai. A better name would be ‘mid-lunar-autumn’, but the long standing tradition and name of this festival is unlikely to change. I wasn't aware it was her until the credits rolled all the more impressive considering her prolific nature. Naomi Hunter from Metal Gear Solid and Knights of the Old Republic's Bastilla Shan. An entire thesis could be written about this woman and her influence on the video game industry, but for now I'll say this: Rivet is one of Hale's signature performances – on par with Dr. A burden such as this can only be carried on the shoulders of one person: Jennifer Hale – the First Lady of Gaming. ![]() The true star of Rift Apart is newcomer Rivet, a female lombax and breath of fresh air the series is looking for. I've been expecting DLC to flesh this out for years (a la Marvel's Spider-Man), but there are still some narrative threads that need to be sown up. Voiced by the eternally underappreciated James Arnold Taylor (due to one misunderstood scene from Final Fantasy X), Ratchet's role in Rift Apart feels surprisingly benign, while his sole purpose is to help everyone else except himself his reservations about the Dimensionator are hardly mentioned throughout the adventure, and until it's closing moments, the plot point concerning the other lombaxes is basically forgotten. Interestingly enough, Ratchet gets pushed to sidelines like broccoli on a plate of steak, essentially acting as the supporting cast member in a title that bears his name. ![]() I considered Kaye one of the heavy hitters back in my day, and it's encouraging to see him still stepping up to bat in yours. It never ceases to amaze me that this is the same person who portrayed Megatron in Beast Wars: Transformers, but that's the magic of the illusion. The emotional connection between him and Ratchet felt quite lopsided in 2016, so it's nice seeing that Clank values their friendship as much as Ratchet does, instead of being a walking MacGuffin. Having removed the 'Hollywood' element of both the remake and movie in favor of industry veterans, Insomniac assembles a more mature cast this time around one that banks on the talent of their craft, as opposed to any sort of displaced celebrity.ĭavid Kaye receives a significant amount of work and clearly enjoys playing a more expressive, despondent Clank than usual. And with GeForce Experience synchronization, NVidia setups can ensure optimal settings while being able to broadcast and record gameplay how else could someone like me take such nice screenshots?Ī major highlight of Rift Apart comes from the performances by the voice actors. Augmented by a performance that outshines the PS5's various modes (with higher resolutions and improved ray tracing), it simply has to be experienced to be believed. Whether it's Ratchet's bedraggled fur after landing in the streets of Nefarious City, or the light from a computer screen reflecting off of Rivet's eyes as she 'reads' the information displayed, the dedication and attention to detail was – and still is – unrivaled. There, they encounter a lombax named Rivet, and alongside a collection of faces old and new, the quest is undertaken to reforge the Dimensionator, defeat the respective Nefariouses, and restore harmony to the fractured realms.īefore moving forward, let's address the elephant in the room: Rift Apart was indisputably the best-looking video game as of June 2021 – and it's only gotten better on PC. The three fall through several of these 'rifts', before ending up in a dystopian world where Emperor Nefarious reigns supreme. The Dimensionator is activated during the conflict, tearing innumerable holes in the fabric of reality. As an eager Clank bestows his gift, the Dimensionator, to a curiously sullen Ratchet, the festivities are interrupted by an attack from Dr. Years after the daring exploits of Into the Nexus, the titular duo is invited to a ceremony in celebration of their good deeds. Rift Apart improves upon its predecessor in virtually every way possible, becoming a technical marvel for ninth-generation hardware from PS5 to Steam Deck – even if Insomniac doesn't quite run as far with the concept as I would have hoped. Welding the series' hallmark gunplay to a new narrative framework and level of polish that transcended the medium, Ratchet & Clank was well-received across the board. This backfired somewhat when the movie (which is much better than Rotten Tomatoes would have you believe) failed to recoup its production costs, but the game was another story. There were big plans for Ratchet and Clank.Īrmed with an animated feature-length film and remake of the beloved PlayStation 2 classic, Sony had every intention of making the lombax and his robot pal household names by the summer of 2016. Based on our own research, the uptime is closer to 97% but that’s still better than what most competing companies are offering. PacketStream gives you access to a neat dashboard from where you can monitor all activities, a Reseller API, and a 99% uptime guarantee. Another drawback worth noting is the inability to whitelist IPs, with the only supported form of authentication being user:pass. You won’t need those types of features to bypass geographic content restrictions or do some price comparisons, but it would be useful to have them if you want to engage in something like sneaker copping. Of course, it all depends on what you’re planning to do with them. ![]() The lack of city targeting and SOCKS5 can limit how much use you’ll get out of the proxies. Similarly, the company supports both HTTP and HTTPS protocols but SOCKS5 isn’t an option. Speaking of things that may or may not impact your performance, PacketStream lets you target specific countries, and there are well over 100 of them to choose from, but city-level targeting is not available. Those sorts of fluctuations aren’t ideal for big businesses but they won’t affect your performance if you’re a small company or individual. This is a peer-to-peer network with people opting in and out all the time, so you can expect the aforementioned number of 7 million addresses to fluctuate based on how many users are selling their bandwidth at any given time. PacketStream is difficult to recommend for large companies given the small pool of proxies found in the network. Let’s break this PacketStream review into two main sections, one for each scenario. There are a number of pros and cons to keep in mind before signing up with PacketStream regardless of whether you want to buy proxies or sell your bandwidth. Potential security concerns for sellers. The network is fairly small all things considered but, on the bright side, these are all real rotating proxies that you can access for very cheap. PacketStream has a pool of around 7 million IP addresses, most of which come from landline or mobile connections. If you’re looking to buy rather than sell, you may find PacketStream’s network a bit underwhelming compared to those of major providers like Bright Data (formerly Luminati) or Oxylabs. As an added bonus, you don’t have to jump through any crazy hoops to start selling your bandwidth because the service is very easy to use. With PacketStream you don’t have to worry about any funny business because the provider is straightforward about how everything works. Or, even worse, some companies try to trick you into renting out your IP address without offering you anything substantial in return. The ones that do offer this extra service, are often not upfront about how your IP is going to be used. Although there are plenty of other residential proxy services out there that let you buy IP addresses at reasonable prices, very few of them let you rent out your own IP for cash at the same time. Despite its young age, however, the network quickly managed to make a name for itself thanks to its rather unique peer-to-peer business model. PacketStream is a relatively new provider of residential proxies, having been established back in 2018. |
